I don’t know why I’m even posting this thread because we know what is going to happen. I guess it’s out of respect for tradition. I have said this before, VCU isn’t that good in relation to the other top A10 teams. I hate their obnoxious fans with a passion. But, they are so much better than us it’s downright scary. They own us. VCU has wins over Fordham, Mason, St. Bonaventure, St. Joe’s, LaSalle, Richmond, and Davidson. Losses are against Rhode Island (twice) and Dayton. The game is on ESPNU. VCU is led by Marcus Santos-Silva who averages 12.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. DeRiante Jenkins (10.9 ppg) and Marcus Evans (10.7 ppg) also chip in to help the Rams. VCU won the first match-up of the year 72 - 59 in Fairfax. Marcus Santos-Silva led VCU with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Javon Greene, Jordan Miller, Xavier Johnson, and Justin Kier all scored in double figures for Mason. We were out-rebounded 40 - 25. Horrible shooting in the first half caused us to be down by 11 at the break. Stats from the first game: https://gomason.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2019-20/vcu/boxscore/10539 DP is just 2-8 against VCU as a member of the A10. Schedule - https://www.vcuathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2019-20/schedule Roster - https://www.vcuathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2019-20/roster Stats - https://www.vcuathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2019-20/files/vcu-team-cume-1920.pdf My prediction: VCU’s pressure has caused opponents to turn the ball over 410 times so far this year. We turn it over 37 times and VCU wins 95 - 45. The loss will drop us to 2-9 in A10 play. Brad Edwards announces that the rest of the season has been cancelled due to lack of interest from the coaches, players, and fans. He then extends DP's contract through the 2045 season.
Only good thing about being one of the worst teams in the county is that if we by some miracle happen to win, it will put a nail in the coffin of VCU’s NCAA Tourney hopes.
21 turnovers today against UMass, no reason to think we can’t beat that number on the road at VCU. VCU 82 GMU 64 23 turnovers
Can’t see us keeping this under 20, even though VCU has looked a little more vulnerable recently. VCU 84 Mason 60
I know we typically travel to a road game the day prior, but given VCU is about 90 minutes from Fairfax and its a 7pm tip, does it make more sense for our guys to sleep in their own beds Tuesday night?
If there are no rules that prohibit it, traveling Wednesday morning makes sense to me. BTW, do you recall Towson men's basketball team getting caught in a snowstorm prior to a scheduled game at Mason, and the game was postponed? Also, one of Coach L's Mason teams was late arriving for a televised game at UMD after getting stuck in traffic.
