Fordham is currently 2 - 9 on the season and 2 - 9 in A10 play. They had their entire OOC schedule canceled due to Covid. They play LaSalle at 12:30 on 2/6/21. I’ll update after.

History: Including tournament play DP is 4 - 2 against Fordham.

    Wins: Dayton, LaSalle
Losses: GW, LaSalle, Duquesne (x2), St. Bonaventure, UMass (x2), Davidson, Rhode Island,

    Schedule: https://fordhamsports.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule/2020-21
    Roster: https://fordhamsports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster
    Stats: https://static.fordhamsports.com/custompages/stats/mbb/2020-21/teamcume.htm

Fordham is led by Chris Austin (12.1 ppg) and Joel Soriano (10.2 ppg & 8.9 reb). Jalen Cobb (6.8 ppg) is the only other player to have started all of the games.

Fordham averages an anemic 51.2 points per game while giving up 67.3. The Rams shoot 34.6% from the floor and 26.4% from 3. Opponents are shooting 44.4% from the field and 34.6% from 3. The Rams shoot 66.7% from the free throw line. They are currently being out rebounded by their opponents to the tune of 7.4 boards per game.

    The game is on ESPN+.

My prediction: Fordham stinks. They can’t shoot, rebound, or defend. I have had this penciled in as a win since the schedule was announced. If we don’t win this one by double figures DP should resign. If we lose DP should be fired on the spot. GMU 75 - Fordham 60.

    https://giantkiller.co/2021/02/05/domisback-mason-falls-to-dayton-before-heading-home/:

"Are we ready for Fordham? Head coach Dave Paulsen said in the presser that, 'Fordham can beat anyone, we can beat anyone, you can lose to anyone. There’s no way of ensuring anything.' This Fordham team has beaten teams they should not have beaten. However, Mason needs to prepare to not end up as another one of those victims. I think this game might be real close if we end up underestimating the Rams."

To be precise, this Fordham team has won just 1 game all season.

Paulsens Fordham comments are hilarious. It’s like he knows he is going to lose to them, so he’s priming the fan base for it. Dude never plays to win. If we lose to Fordham I’d hope that he just does the right thing and resigns after the game.

This was such a weird comment. Is Dave really trying to save face and be PC or does he just not pay attention? Maybe he was just talking about in general Fordham has beaten teams they shouldn't in the past.

This was not included in the direct quote, so it could just be an error by the writer. I should have been clearer in my post, which I've corrected. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem theres no confusion there. My point was that him saying something to the effect of "Fordham has won games they shouldn't have" and Fordham has only 1 win all year, it seems a bit out of touch.

At this point it shouldn't surprise me what comes out of Dave's mouth.

I am really beginning to dislike Paulsen more and more every time I hear a quote from him.

Actually, the quote sounds like typical coach-speak. Build up your opponent, especially if they haven't won many games and warn your guys not to overlook them and just assume you'll be able to have your way with them. I'd be surprised if ANY coach hasn't pretty much said the same thing several times a year.

Making a big deal out of it strikes me as "piling on" as all the other negative things that have been said about DP have been exhausted.

I see both sides of it and I can see where you are coming from......BUT this is DP we are talking about. I think he is trying to soften the fact that there is a very good possibility that we could lose to a team that has 2 wins and an Interim Head Coach.

Agree it is coach speak, but it is very weak coach speak when you are talking about a 1 win team it comes off sounding wrong. I criticized Hewitt for sounding that way, so I am going to be consistent and do the same for Paulsen.

I guess if I look at it from the other perspective, he is kind of admitting we suck and by cause and effect, he is admitting he is sucking at coaching our team right now. So, I’ll give him credit for admitting that. ;-)

Theres 'coach speak' and there's also being accountable. Which he has never taken responsibility for anything. Specifically, comment on how you need to do a better job of getting guys ready so they can be consistent. Its always the players fault for him it seems. If AJ is shooting 25% on two pointers then tell him he needs to do X or else he won't play. It seems this isn't happening and the progress for most of his players turns to regression. It starts at the top. F DP. He needs to go yesterday.
