Classy guy, smart hire. He will only bring credit and honor to the university ... hopefully along with some seven-figure donation checks
Some insight as to his duties at UMW when he held a similar position in their athletic dept: http://www.redskins.com/news-and-ev...s-Gala-/ff90d620-1c22-455d-a66f-a7b1b37edc4d/. I believe it was an annual event there.
Attendance is down at Redskins training camp. Hopefully Green and Edwards can convince the redskins to hold training camp at Mason. Tom O'Connor turned down the redskins in the past. What an idiot. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ce-available-to-watch-redskins-training-camp/
Hiring Darrell Green has zero to do with trying to lure the Redskins training camp. It's about fundraising. Period.
I know it has zero to do with it. But it shouldn't. Mason should position its self to seize every marketing opportunity. Period.
I would assume so because the team is not releasing attendance stats this year. http://www.richmond.com/redskins-xtra/article_fc75d64a-d61c-5d03-b5c3-8a2ef54a8ca4.html And then there is a tweet from Duke Ihenacho " maybe it's me...but the number of fans at camp practices look kinda thin. I thought skins fans came deep . Where y'all at?"--Duke Ihenacho
That's fine, but the city of Richmond is taking it in the shorts financially for the "privilege" of hosting training camp. City leaders agreed to a terrible deal. Unless Snyder is willing to pony up some nice bucks for our practice facility, I say Mason should stay far, far away.
I get that MWC=/= Mason but hopefully he'll be doing more than one fundraising gala a year, that likely didn't pay his salary.
This is all about getting our foot in the door with deep pocketed donors. If Darrell Green knocks on your door, you have to at least listen to what he has to say.
If Darrell Green knocks on my door I not only will donate more money I will do things that Jollay usually does for fried chicken and PBR on a Sunday. Broads, Buicks, and Buckley
Again the brings name recognition and visibility to the athletic program. Simple and period. Having a name like that with resonance in this area will only help fundraising AND address politics as everyone likes Darell Green. I mean he is like the nicest professional athlete out there. Successful and pure as the driven snow . Broads, Buicks, and Buckley
Huge Hire! This is exactly what Mason needs to deepen contacts and get in the door to huge corporations and with the Mason community in general. CEO's around NOVA have been put on notice. Darrell Green is coming for you all and get your checkbooks ready! Makes getting in the door with these large corps so much easier now and now they will begin to open their eyes and hop on the donor train. Great things on the horizon boys!
