great news... still think Gaylord is better fit because Washington Convention has weirdly low ceilings in some areas of the ballroom taking much needed room for multiple courts

Source: Among the biggest questions resonating among those involved with potential non-conference bubbles in college basketball is what exactly will happen with the contracts of games that were initially scheduled.

Many layers will be left after NCAA's September announcement

Source: Indianapolis --- the home of the NCAA's national office --- is another location that has emerged as a candidate to host a bubble during the upcoming college basketball season.

Something to monitor during the "Golden Window".

Texas has laid off 35 people in its athletic department while 35 other jobs have been permanently eliminated, per release.

    Another effect of coronavirus.

Here's a situation where 2-3 people within that department could save 35+ jobs..

Texas laying off 35 staff members in athletic department & also 35 vacant positions will not be filled. That plus 26 coaches & administrators taking voluntarily temporary salary reductions & staff members having to take salary reductions/furloughs will save UT $13.1 million

Michigan eliminates 21 positions in athletic department & will not fill 15 jobs that have come open in recent weeks & months. Also, all staff & coaches are taking up to 10% pay cuts

"James Madison University has halted in-person instruction for at least the rest of the month as the campus deals with a 'rapid increase' in the number of coronavirus cases, the school’s president announced Tuesday.

More than 500 active cases of the coronavirus have been reported since July 1, including roughly 150 positive cases among tests taken at the university’s health center, according to the school’s coronavirus dashboard used to track the virus’ presence on campus. More than 370 students and employees have reported contracting the disease since Aug. 17.

Out of 83 tests performed on students and employees at the university’s health center Monday, 18 had positive results, according to the school’s dashboard.

The university in Harrisonburg, Va., invited students to begin moving onto campus Aug. 21. A mix of in-person, online and hybrid classes started Aug. 26.

Now, the school is asking students to return home by Monday, when in-person classes are expected to transition online, Jonathan R. Alger, the university president, wrote in a message to the campus. Some specialized classes, including graduate research, will be offered in a hybrid format, Alger added."

Sources: Several schools are considering delaying the start of the 2021 spring semester.

This would extend the "Golden Window" for college basketball.

I am guessing there is correlation between colleges with high STD rates and Coronavirus. I have one data point - JMU.

With enrollment rising this year at Mason, are we even going to see that big of a budget shortfall given that a big chunk of the AD budget comes from student fees?

Larry Scott told reporters that he's hopeful that the Pac-12's new testing will "provide a pathway" to play games before January.

Translation: The Pac-12 is now a legitimate candidate to be a part of college basketball's "Golden Window".

Not sure how much income the school will lose from less-than-full residence halls and fewer people (faculty. staff, and students) on campus spending $$ on food, etc.

Sources: As power conference teams consider the idea of a non-conference bubble in college basketball, they're also weighing the costs involved.

Price needs to be reasonable due to financial constraints set by COVID-19.
