The Bonnies beat Duq 62 - 48. Lofton and Holmes played all 40 minutes. Osunniyi played 39 minutes Adaway played 34 minutes The best players play the entire game. DP and the coaching staff need to consider doing the same moving forward.
To be fair they are at 9 scholarship athletes and 4 are elite. While I agree with the sentiment we don’t have an OSUN or lofton on our team to play the entire game. If he could only recruit good enough to do that with all juniors pretty much. But he can’t. He’s a shit recruiter and plays 10 guys when 6 suck
I’ve always been a believer that 8 deep is the magic number for college basketball unless you play super up tempo. Guys need a chance to get and stay in a groove, instead of predetermining that 2 guys are coming out at the 12 min mark, 3 more at the 8, then we are going to play our 4 guys who can’t score lineup from 7 to 4 minutes left before the starters get back in and try to retain momentum.
There was an article where a coach talked about the optimal progression of the season is you start your OOC with a 10-man rotation and as you move towards conference play it goes to 9 and then by the middle of the season you have an 8-man rotation that will take you into tournament play.

https://fordhamsports.com/news/2021...head-coach-jeff-neubauer-leaving-fordham.aspx: "Bronx, N.Y. – Jeff Neubauer, men's basketball head coach is leaving Fordham, effective immediately, said Ed Kull, Fordham University's interim director of athletics. Associate head coach Michael DePaoli will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season and a national search for a permanent replacement will begin immediately. 'Fordham Athletics appreciates Coach Neubauer and his commitment and leadership to our men's basketball program over the past six seasons,' Kull said. 'We are grateful for Jeff's hard work and dedication, and thank him for his service to Fordham. We wish him and his family the best in the future.' 'We thank Jeff Neubauer for his hard work and dedication on behalf of our student athletes and the University,' said Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham. 'We wish him well as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.' Neubauer has been at Fordham for the past six seasons, compiling a 61-104 record during that stretch. Overall, Neubauer is 249-238 in 16 seasons as a head coach. The Rams, 1-7 overall and in Atlantic 10 play, return to action on Wednesday, January 27, as they host Duquesne University for an Atlantic 10 contest in the Rose Hill Gym at 6 p.m."
I know this was inevitable, but in my opinion, at least let him finish out the year? Call me crazy but I think there is something else here.
I agree. Schools like Fordham don't just dump coaches mid season for performance issues. Smells like something is going on behind the scenes. What's the deal with the interim AD? Maybe trying to make a splash and become permanent?
You lame duck him because you can't afford or justify the buyout in the middle of a crushing pandemic that has you tightening up everywhere and cutting staff. This decision was made last year and they needed time to get finances in order. I'm speculating, but seems pretty obvious.
My point is, for a guy who is a lame duck, why get rid of him midseason when you know you are going to part ways in another 2 months? I think there is something going on there. I just wouldn't have expected a midseason firing. It's Fordham but still, just seems fishy to me. I probably didn't express what I was trying to say in the other post that well so I edited it.
No, I get what you're saying. You're asking why would they fire him midseason, and I'm asking why wouldn't they? They clearly decided last year that he's not the guy. Maybe some shady shit was going on, but that would not be my assumption.
Because they don't get an advantage in hiring the next coach since they can't talk to anyone currently coaching right now anyway?
Technically, sure, but realistically the back-channel conversations are already starting: https://twitter.com/GoodmanHoops/status/1354148725048942593?s=19
