History would say probably the latter.

Anyone want to throw out the odds on GW sweeping us again this year?

"83. Duquesne: These are turning into the golden years for Dukes hoops. The school hasn't been this good in hoops from a wins perspective in four decades. And to think, Keith Dambrot wasn't choice No. 1, 2, 3, 4 or even 5 when the job came open in 2017. Funny how it's worked out.

    85. St. Bonaventure: No exaggeration to say there aren't 20 coaches who could average 17.6 wins over 13 years at Bona -- especially when you remember just how decrepit this program was when Mark Schmidt took it over. NIT group at worst, and then if all return for 2021-22, Bonaventure should be a top-60 team.

    100. VCU: Will probably be a fun-but-young team that stubs it toe a few too many times. A strong coaching staff will ensure VCU is never overlooked by its A-10 counterparts. Let's see if sophomore Nah'Shon Hyland can be a leader.

    116. Rhode Island: Fatts Russell is still balling for the Rams, which makes the Rams a threat in every A-10 game they play. URI did lose good pieces to transfer, but new faces Jalen Carey and Jeremy Sheppard will insist on keeping the Rams in good standing.

    133. UMass: This needs to be the year Matt McCall gets it going. Everything starts with Tre Mitchell, who was overlooked nationally as a freshman stud (17.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg) but can lift the Minutemen to the top five of the A-10 standings.

    143. George Mason: Dave Paulsen's a quality coach. GMU was sideswiped by nagging injury issues in 2019-20. Expect a bump within the upgraded A-10, guided by senior forward AJ Wilson.

    176. La Salle: Finished 181st at KenPom. With three starters back for a defensive-oriented team, I think Ashley Howard's Explorers remain mostly steady year over year.

    185. George Washington: The Colonials ranked 13th in A-10 defense last season and were putrid at forcing turnovers and second-chance points. Jamion Christian will need some more time with a new group."

Lol. 143 and near the bottom of the A10 isn’t exactly much of a bump( if I have it right, that puts them at 10th?)

    https://collegehoopstoday.com/index...der-the-radar-transfers-for-the-20-21-season/:

"Dahmir Bishop, St. Joe’s: A former four-star recruit, Bishop is back in his native Philadelphia after starting his career at Xavier. The 6-4 guard has the ability to be one of the top perimeter players in the Atlantic 10 and will be a major part of Billy Lange’s rebuilding efforts on Hawk Hill."

"Clifton Moore, La Salle: Ashley Howard’s ability to land Moore could wind up being a critical turning point in the Explorers’ ability to climb the Atlantic 10 standings. A native of Philadelphia, the 6-10 big man has capable feet and legitimate ability in the paint. Moore has two years of eligibility after transferring from Indiana."

    https://www.cbssports.com/college-b...ojected-best-68-teams-for-the-2020-21-season/:

"31. Saint Louis: Atop the A-10 and Travis Ford's best team since he was coaching Marcus Smart at Oklahoma State. SLU went 23-8 last season and returns its top eight scorers. The Billikens are Sweet 16 material if all clicks. What's wild about that record from last season: SLU was the worst foul-shooting team in college basketball (57.1%) and wasn't top-100 in 2- or 3-point accuracy. Shore up the shots and this is a top 25 team. Jordan Goodwin, Hasahn French and Javonte Perkins comprise the senior triumvirate. Stacked squad.

    36. Richmond: Chris Mooney is fortunate enough to coach at an institution that doesn't believe in firing a person years before a contract expires. UR was in the midst of an eight-year NCAA Tournament drought -- the Spiders had a good chance to make it in 2020 -- but the administration did not cave to fan pressure. Now the Spiders can have their best season in a decade, though there was a mid-October setback. Senor guard Nick Sherod suffered a torn ACL and is done, but UR has plenty in the holster. Two other fifth-year seniors, Blake Francis and Grant Golden, opted to return to try and make some program history. The Spiders also still have Jacob Gilyard, who's the best defensive player in the conference, and will get a boost from 6-7 sophomore Tyler Burton, whose minutes will go up now that Burton is out.

    42. Dayton: Obi Toppin departure note is mandated off the top. The Flyers lost more than just the NPOY. This team was capable of winning the national title and is going to be attached to the what-if of the canceled NCAA Tournament more than any other really good team of 2019-20 (Kansas, Baylor, Gonzaga and San Diego State being the others). For this season, Jalen Crutcher becomes The Guy, and he'll have Rodney Chatman and Ibi Watson back in the fold to keep the Flyers in the upper echelon of the Atlantic 10. We'll get an early gauge on UD, because it's Duke's replacement in the loaded Crossover Classic field in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

    62. Davidson: The A-10 has a chance at producing four NCAA Tournament bids if we have an as-anticipated 68-team field. Davidson will be in that mix thanks to the return of Kellan Grady, who is a household name in the league, but look out for Carter Collins, too. I expect Collins to have a few 20-point nights this season. Davidson was overrated heading into last season but Bob McKillop seldom sees his teams underperform relative to expectations in back-to-back years."

    https://collegehoopstoday.com/index...-radar-breakout-players-for-the-20-21-season/:

"Bones Hyland, VCU: Mike Rhoades lost five of his top six scorers from last season’s team, but he’s got a burgeoning star returning in Hyland. The 6-3 guard averaged 9.0 points last year as a freshman, with an average of 14.3 points in the Rams’ final three games. He’ll be expected to be an all-conference caliber player as a sophomore.

Yuri Collins, Saint Louis: A pass-first point guard, Collins had 10 games last year as a freshman with seven assists or more. Don’t be shocked if he winds up leading the Atlantic 10 in dimes in 20-21."

10th which I think is fair. I think we'll finish higher. Hopefully this is motivation for our guys.

    None earned for sure.

But when your best player by far is relegated to third team, that's what the coaches think of the other players we have on the roster. Let's hope AJ Wilson destroys the A-10 this year.

It seems like Golden and Russell have been around for about 10 years.

Take off the rose colored glasses folks... we have three A10 level starters and a bunch of unknowns/role players. 10th is too low for even negative me but I can see why we are there.

AJ should be minimum 2nd team that’s the real BS.

Only reason why teams like Davidson and VCU are ahead of us is because their coaches aren’t looked at as jokes to the media and other coaches. They are respected. No way those rosters are better than ours. Davidson is a kellan Grady injury away from Fordham level of bad. Umass has all the hype with a joke head coach so that’s why they flew up the standings. I can’t see VCU or Davidson being better than mason next year unless VCU gets some serious improvement by players not named bones

Does anyone have a full recording of the Mason session of the A10 media day today? Are the By George guys planning on putting together any sort of article/video/podcast recap of what was said?

I’ve seen snippets on Twitter of the players comments and Dave’s comments but nothing comprehensive.
