The State of Mason Basketball Apathy
When my son started playing basketball, the league (a pure teaching league) he was in had a rule that matched two guys up. On defense you covered the other guy and he covered you when you were on offense. It was an initial way to learn man to man defense. The only problem was that early on some kids on offense would go and seek out their defender to be with him instead of trying to get away from him.

On a related not, I think I have a theory of what the problem is with our offense. I think Paulsen has confused the guys on defense and offense to the point they are "covering" their defender on offense and not doing a good job of getting away from their defender.

Of course I am just kidding, but it sure seems to like that at times.

I wonder if that’s in his book. Page.47 “The key to a great Offense is staying with your defender, that way the only possible pass is in the form of a handoff.”

Beats the living shit out of what I had to watch with my 2nd grade son last year--his first time playing organized basketball and the coach played a 2-3 zone.

How you're able to even be allowed to do that in a second grade league is beyond me.

Oh and there was a rule of no double teaming...which made playing zone even less sensical being allowed.

Charlotte behind Jahmir Young's 21 pts knock off GW without their head coach who had contact tracing concerns.. Maybe we try this with Paulsen for the first road trip. Just leave him at home for a while

What looked like was going to be one of the best A10's in the last 5 years is quickly starting to crumble. Top 4 looks more and more possible for a lot of teams this year.

Possible for a lot of teams....not ours, we’ll be fighting to stay at of the bottom 4.

Unfortunately I agree. From what we've seen so far this is a team that will have to claw our way out of the PIG unless something changes in the next couple of weeks. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the conference ends up though. Going to be a dog fight in the middle.

I think we’re gonna get the nightmare scenario: somewhere between 8-10 and 10-8, just decent enough for the administration to play the “we were hampered by COVID” card and justify giving Dave a 2-year extension.

If we’re not gonna compete for a double bye, and that seems very unlikely after the first 4 games, we need the bottom to fall out so the new president has no choice but make a change.

there aren't 8 wins in conference on our schedule the current team based solely on the 4 games we have played can win... no way

It was actually 82-81. VCU almost blew a 15-point halftime lead.

I corrected it. Evidently, Bones fouled on a 3-pt. shot just before the buzzer.

Who do you like in this one: GW (1-6) vs. Fordham (0-0)?

GW MBB has lost 1 coach (Nima Omidvar) & 3 players (Jack, Stallings, Nelson Jr.) so far, currently standing at 1-6.

GW will be seeking redemption against Fordham on Wednesday at 1pm for the 3 losses Fordham handed to them last season, including elimination from A-10 tournament.

I'm too lazy to search, but what happened to the coach?
