I applaud you guys for trying to explain to JDK why the final four is so important and okay to remember year by year. But unfortunately no matter what we say, he won’t understand it. He’s GMUraider and didn’t understand things then either.
As long as that stupid and horrifying "Mason Nation, their a hoops sensation" commercial or song or whatever the f*ck crap that was never plays again
Its also a reminder that sports are the front door to most universities and should be treated as such.
I still have seizures every time I think about that ad. Remembering it pisses me off because it reminds me how things fell apart in the Spring of 2011 and how we are quickly approaching 10 years since the 2011 team. I want this team to win A10 Championships, consistently make the NCAA tournament, and go on a deep run in the NCAA tournament one of these years. Mr. Met: You can keep having your high level dispassionate analytics conversations with people in your godforsaken clique that you deem worthy to talk about the program in hushed tone golf announcer voices. I'll be donating $20.20 on April 4th. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH DAMN IT. LET'S MAKE THE 2020s THE DECADE OF MASON BASKETBALL.
Hunker down young fella. Gonna be a long time till we sniff even top 4 again. A10 programs are stepping up. We are stepping to the side as they pass us. Edit: disregard word 'again'.
You have no idea what’s going to happen next year. You have no idea whose recruits are going to pan out and which aren’t, who will get injured and who won’t, who will improve and who will regress, etc. this handwringing is stupid. We were one win away from top 4 the last two seasons. I say we will be picked 7th, but VCU was picked 7th this past season. You have no clue.
yea man. Goanar is going to learn to dribble this offseason, AJ is going to learn when to jump, Kier will be able to take a contested three when jumping, Calixte is going to turn into a mean dude, Reuter will not suck ass and finally Paulsen will learn how to draft an offense and inbounds plays. we have got this in the bag. GO TEAM
Maybe I'm just mistaken, but I really don't remember Mar being that bad with the ball in his hands. What stands out from this past year was his inability to put the ball in the basket. I think he can adequately play the 3 next year.
I am not sure I am wrong when stating that mostly when he tried to dribble toward the basket he used to dribble off his leg or just get the ball stolen from.
I had a hunch that DP would struggle here with recruiting. And he has. I had no idea of anything certain but anyone could conclude it was going to be an issue based off where he came from and the type of kids he recruited in the past. Nice kids, that listen, aren't very athletic but have some skill, graduate. We are Willam & Mary of the North in basketball. Book it. You keep leaning on the one win away from top 4. But what about the close wins that could of been losses? We easily could of been lower than 5th this year. Next year, despite everyone coming back, we will not finish ahead of vci, uri, davidson, dayton, bonnies, duq, slu. Simply b/c they have better athletes. On a side note, isn't it ironic a mediocre CAA program came calling for our assistant? IMO, WM wants to be right where Shaver left them. Shaver wouldn't kiss that beast of a woman's ass, so she fired him. Poor Dane, he might get abused by that thing and nobody in Williamsburg will hear him scream.
I said nothing about this season... Ask yourself if Davidson finishes ahead of us if JAG is injured for six weeks at the start of conference play next year, for instance. What about SLU losing French for the season after already losing Isabell, Bess, and Foreman to graduation? What happens to St. Bonaventure if Lofton pulls a Mar and has a massive sophomore slump? They’re already losing Griffin and Stockard to graduation. What happens to us if Xavier Johnson is a day one starter caliber player? And Jordan Miller makes a huge leap as a sophomore? What happens if Rhoades is hired by Tech and three or four key players leave with him? A lot, in other words.
Davidson probably is still better than us without JAG (reminder they have a good coach and one other star player) LOL Goanar Mar cannot sniff Lofton's jock after both of their freshman campaigns...
Featured in 'Washington in the 2000s'. Check around the 37 minute mark https://watch.weta.org/video/washington-in-the-2000s-nrqpwo/ They give a few seconds for Maryland's title, then the rest on us. Georgetown's Final Four doesnt even get mentioned.
