shorter scholarship rosters due to Transfer Portal/NIL?
This approach may work for the Top 50 programs - usure about the rest of D-1

Doesn't Bona typically use only 5-6 guys? I thought there were a couple other programs/coaches in the A10 that weren't too far behind on pretty much only using their starters.

8-9 man rotation on scholarship and with most of the NIL money
put the rest of the practice squad on scholarship with a minimum monthly stipend

works fine until
1) a game with multiple players in foul trouble
2) overtime games
3) there are multiple injuries among the rotation players
4) players out due to a team illness or bug
5) tournaments where you play 3-5 games over 3-5 days

I seem to remember George Mason basketball going with 8-9 scholarship players for a year or two.

Don't think it went very well. Couldn't imagine it going very well at any level, always need warm bodies in the event of an injury and to practice with.

I would need some proof before i believe this.
How many schools in Div 1 has an NIL budget of $2M or more?
and UW is not one of them.

If true, what would this do to team chemistry?

"known" being the key word.

Yes. It seems to me that there isn’t enough information about the deals and these collectives to be transparent about any of it.

I’ve seen posters on here ask about our own NIL deals and so far the most I’ve heard is “you’d be surprised at what some of our players are making.” OK…

I think transparency is important here for a lot of reasons, but mainly for the players to understand what the market landscape actually looks like. I have no idea if they know or not (maybe they do), but if donors don’t know (and they’re paying for these deals) I doubt the players know outside of their own bubble what the market actually looks like.

Is this $2 million figure legit? Maybe, maybe not. Who knows.

OCM was preaching transparency about a year and a half ago.

He and Tony were together in Coral Gables a few days ago. Anyone know if we got a home and home out of it? Game plan vs Duke? lol

And practice. It’s smart to practice against good players.

I think that’s why Kelly saw a big leap in performance, he practiced every day with A10 players and had to post up against Henry!
